White, too white

A portrait of albinism in india.

A chance meeting in Pondicherry inspired Andreas Deffner's photo project, kicking off a four-year push to find the subjects of his series. Shot in a purpose-built moveable daylight studio, Deffner's remarkable portraits of people affected by albinism, their skin illuminated to near transparency, has won the Lead Award for portrait photography.
